Great vibes and it's very dim inside. It's BYOB, which made for a fun experience! It was my first time here, and the waiter did an amazing job explaining the menu and giving recommendations. Highlights: Berenjena en Escabeche: This cold appetizer features sliced eggplant marinated in vinegar. The sourness really helped open up our appetite for all the meat in the main course. El Filet: The meat was cooked well and I liked the sauce that came with it. The green mashed potato was intriguing, and I liked it because the unique look. We were so stuffed by the end, and we had plenty of leftovers to take home, even with just the two of us :)

I am completely blown away by Tango Sur! For reference, I am a huge fan of Brazilian steakhouses and was very hopeful in a similar experience, but I have to say Tango Sur exceeded my expectations. Reservation process seems a little disorganized as you have to call in to reserve but highly recommend to do so! It's BYOB without alcohol on the menu, so definitely bring a bottle of red if you plan on drinking that night. We got two of the specials and we were equally blown away by both. I was particularly fond of the El Filet as the sauce paired beautifully with the tender steak but the Churrasco was equally as delicious. They also make an incredible chimichurri sauce. Service was also amazing and we were checked in on at multiple points in the evening. Cannot recommend this place enough!

First-rate experience all around at Tango Sur. Service: top-flight. Extremely attentive staff, not just the server. Impressive hospitality and feeling of being welcome. Ambiance: Cozy, warm, inviting, and a fine compliment to the entire dining experience. Warm light, including candlelight. Food: Outstanding. The empanadas (corn, sweet beef) were delectable-- fine seasoning and flaky crust stood out in these culinary delights. The provoleta was prepared and served to perfection. Churrasco was ordered medium-rare, and it was exceptional in its flavor, texture, and presentation. Most breathtaking of the meal was the Vacío. All of the food ordered was outstanding, but something about the Vacío, sharing a sauce bath with its Vesuvio potato companions, took things into another realm. All elements of my time at Tango Sur came together to make for a wholly wonderful dining encounter.

You'll definitely need a reservation. Even with the reservation, we were seated late. That was fine because we went to the sister business next-door, which is a bar and has some delicious cocktails. The restaurant itself is BYOB. Beer or wine. No fee. There was quite a wait for the food, but we had some delicious Meat dishes, which took a little time to prepare. It's a small space. It was very warm inside, we were there in mid June. Not sure if they had any air conditioning. The service was attentive, the food was good. Would definitely go back.

Tango Sue ranks high even though we rarely visit. It was a nice summer night, we sat outside and were seated very quickly. Made the mistake of forgetting they don't provide alcohol so my husband made a quick trip to a store around the corner to pick up a bottle of wine. Skirt steak with potatoes was perfectly cooked, flavorful and juicy and the chimichurri always hits the spot!

Tango Sur is an affordable Argentinian steakhouse in Chicago's Southport neighborhood. Best deal is El Filet, a 16 ounce double filet mignon for $55. Love the spinach mashed potatoes that come with it! You also get salad with any entree, but they charge $10 shared plate. Loved the Berenjena - eggplant spinach cheese casserole. BYOB. Great patio setting. Entire servicing staff has you covered, including an always full water glass!

Tango Sur has been on my mind for a while now, but it took me a while to come in and try it because the picture of the spinach mashed potatoes weirded me out. However, glad we casually walked in at 5pm on a Wednesday since they don't take reservations. The vibes are classic old school, no frills let's get down to the food. I really don't like corkage fees so I was happy to find that wasn't an issue here. We split the churrasco because it's 16oz. HUGE. And the provoleta which was melted cheese, but not too runny at all. We are definitely coming back. Highly recommend for a casual date night or group meal since all the dishes are shareable.

Best Argentine food I've had in Chicago so far. We started with empanadas for the appetizer and they far exceeded expectations with very rich and flavorful options. Go light on these - each one is more filling than you think! You inly need one per person. All of the flavors are excellent. I ordered a Churrasco steak. It's a tremendous amount of food and could really be eaten by two people. It was a bit tougher than expected despite ordering medium-rare, but the taste is excellent and pairs very nicely with the potatoes you are given as a side. Will certainly be back!
